Covid Challenges

I apologize for not having posted anything to this website recently. Frankly, the Covid-19 pandemic has seriously affected my consulting business. Most of the nonprofits I’ve dealt with have struggled to provide basic services so cutting out the budget for a consultant has been an easy decision for them to make.

Fortunately, I haven’t personally been affected by the virus. Some members of my family have contracted the virus, but none suffered serious consequences. But my business fell off so much that I became open to considering other possibilities.

In January of 2022, I accepted a position as Vice President – External Affairs for Frontier Communications. This is very similar to when I held that same position for Verizon corporation for 15 years until I retired in 2015 and started my consulting practice. Frontier has decided to expand their fiber-optic network throughout Texas and they were able to coax me out of retirement, partly because of the decline of my consulting business. But the work I did for Verizon in helping launch their own fiber-optic network in Texas was some of the most satisfying work I did in my telecommunications career. So, I am very pleased to be able to extend that career now to a total of 40 years with my new position (I served 18 years with GTE before Verizon).

My new job will require my full attention for the remainder of 2022 and perhaps for a few more years as well. However, I plan to keep this website open and keep my business alive because I hope to be able to continue helping nonprofits become more successful in seeking funding from large companies once I complete my corporate career - again.
